You Look Mahvelous. --Billy Crystal, 1985 Ciao bella, Do you feel beautiful? What would make you feel beautiful? Maybe some new clothes. There are lots of sales now –keep your eyes open for coupons in the newspaper. Lord & Taylor, Filene’s or Macy’s if you’re a patient shopper each has some new wonderful styles for everyone. Pick up a fashion magazine and check out all the styles that have re-emerged on the runways. Buy a new nail polish --OPI has put out the London Collection with some great fall shades. Or a new shampoo with a great scent and many promises for shiny hair. I’ve found a new one Garnier Fructis fortifying shampoo and conditioner nourishes and strengthens hair. It works fabulously. Find it at CVS! A massage not only makes you feel great, but helps you to look beautifully relaxed. Just call the Boston Sports Club on Washington Street (Downtown Crossing) and ask for Robby! You’ll never have it so good with his calming techniques. I felt beautiful last weekend when I went to see Under the Tuscan Sun. Definitely a "chick-flick." But grand views of Tuscany, Rome, and Positano! A new piece of jewelry usually brings out my pretty side. Whether costume or the real thing, nothing like a new piece of jewelry. For the real thing pop in and see my friend Freddie at Homsy Jewelers on Washington Street. They have divine taste. They’ll make it affordable for your wallet. For costume jewelry I recommend the Ross Simons catalog. Unique pieces with free shipping sometimes. And right there in the North End is High Gear on Richmond Street -- unique pieces there! Ma certo, the free make-over! Just call any one of your fav stores. Ask for the cosmetics department and inquire who would be giving free make-overs that week. Free make-overs from Fresh Cosmetics November 21 at Nieman-Marcus and at Sephora in Burlington Mall on November 22. A new perfume. Get rid of that same old scent you’ve been using for years. There are some scents out there to be tried. Use light and refreshing and wait for the compliments. Nothing like smelling great. Take a trip; change your scenery. Find some bus schedules (at subway stops Government Center, Park Station, or Malden Center) for some nearby jaunts like to Marblehead or Salem. Take a train to Maine. Schedules are found in North Station for the "Downeaster." There’s also the bus from Chinatown to the wonderful New York City. There is plenty of beauty there! That’s where you’ll find it. Look for Sephora in Times Square. Take a day off just for you. Stroll down historic Hanover Street. Visit some of the lovely shops you rush by while aiming for home. Have a delicious treat at Modern Pastry Shop. Feel and smell the beauty of the North End. Buon viaggio. --Mary.
